We are coming up to our last workshop for the year on May 3rd from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. We are meeting in a different location than usual. We will be at North Elementary School, 1680 Brickville Rd., Sycamore, Il. We know this farther out than usual (It is 20 minutes from Prairie View) so lunch is on us!
This is our Chapter Share when we share lessons and other teaching ideas that we think might help others. Some of what is already planned for the chapter share are a lesson with children’s literature, how one district is handing assessment, and a guide to common core that you are probably already doing in your lessons. We could use a few more chapter members to share and, as we announced earlier this year, all people who share get a $5 Starbucks gift card! Come to the workshop for some ideas to finish off our year and some social time too!
See you there!
This coming Saturday is our April workshop and we are excited to welcome Sue Keeble as our chapter presenter this month. Sue will be bringing how to adapt Mande drumming for kids!. Please bring a drum if you have one, although we are bringing extras.
After Sue’s workshop, we are going to bring in the spring with some folk dancing for our Orff Moment. So wear some comfy clothing and get ready to twinkle your toes!
The weather forecast for tomorrow’s workshop is more than dreadful at this point and instead of waiting to see what happens, we are going to cancel and reschedule for a new date. There are some very exciting and helpful presentations scheduled and we do not wish for anyone who volunteered to feel pressured to drive in poor traveling conditions to present. And we are so excited about the movement, children’s literature, volumes, assessment, and common core topics that were planned for tomorrow that we don’t want to just cancel. Please bear with us and check our Facebook page or our website for often information about a rescheduled workshop.
Fox Valley Orff Schulwerk Chapter’s next workshop in will be the chapter share. This is an opportunity for us as educators to share what kinds of lessons happen in our classrooms. We would love for someone to share a canon, a folk dance, an instrumental piece, a children’s literature piece, and a piece with creative movement. Please contact Kristine at firstname.lastname@example.org or Andrea at email@example.com if you are interested in presenting.
FVOSC presenting at IMEA Conference 2013!
Well, after a fantastic first workshop and choral reading session we are incredibly excited for our second workshop on Saturday, October 5th with Laura Petersen. She will be presenting a cross-curricular session connecting movement to works of art. Our Orff Moment is “Tackling the Volumes” and we will be looking at those wonderful little books for quality music for our classrooms. Please click on the workshop tab for additional information on our session.
